In predicting rolling noise froma railway wheelset, some assumptionsare usually required to make the calculations less complicated and more efficient.In this study, effects of modelling assumptions on prediction ofsound power radiated from a high-speed train wheelset are investigated by using finite element boundary methods.Use is made axi-symmetry allow solution be obtained in terms Fourier series circumferential direction. Compared with moving-wheel formulation, moving-roughness approach shown sufficient provided that receptance takes into account rotation rail accounts for effect moving load.Wheel/rail coupling should take lateral as well vertical forces; neglect interaction mayresult significant overestimatesof contribution axial modes thus overall noise.If not considered, its may underestimated up 3 dBat frequencies above 2000 Hz.If suspension included, sound would overestimated at below Hz. Comparedwithsymmetric excitation assuming incoherentexcitations left right wheel/rail contacts will significantly affect frequencyrange 2000Hz but has negligible important region Finally, axle 1000 Hz.In A-weighted level, interaction, inclusion bearings axleboxes neglected.
